Blacksmith

Blacksmithing came to me as a combination of many attractions. I have always loved nature, working with iron, and art. I purchased my first anvil around 1988 and from there I experimented, trying to produce items to match sketches that I had saved through the years.

What skills I now have are all self-taught. For years no one saw my art but my family. It was a difficult decision to part with my first piece. I will always feel as if a miniscule part of me leaves with each item, but I came to accept it by knowing that others can also draw pleasure from it.

Some of my favorite memories are of the time I have spent outdoors. Because of this I try to incorporate a small part of nature in each piece I create. By using recycled items as much as possible in my work, I feel as if I am giving back a small part of what mother nature has given me.
